Best time on the Kenai River
Date of Stay: July 18 – 21, 2017
We spent a week in Alaska, all along the Sterling Highway and by far, Eagle’s Eye Vacation Rentals were our favorite. The spot couldn’t be in a better location. Close to all KEY fishing holes, close to Gas Station, close to places to eat and only 20 minutes down the road from Fred Meyer in Soldotna, where we always end up at least 4 or 5 times while we are in AK. Ron is such a great guy. Super helpful, thoughtful and kind. The Property is amazing. We stayed in the Bear’s den and it was so nice and comfy for the 4 of us! The beds were so comfortable, we debated sleeping all day but that view of the Kenai river, will have you up for sure. The place we super roomy and very lovely. We appreciated every minute of staying at this beautiful piece of heaven! Thank you! We recommend if you are staying, you have breakfast at Moose Back Annie’s just about 10 minutes down the road and at some point, try the pizza at Magpyes! YUMMY!
Great place with friendly hosts

We really enjoyed eagle eye. Great views of the river. The owners went out of their way to make us feel right at home. We will be back again.
Great Find on the Kenai River

Spending a week on the Kenai River in the Eagle’s Nest was serene and relaxing. Ron and Katya were very gracious hosts. The “nest” had everything one needed, its location was ideal, and the bed was extremely comfortable. The morning visits by the eagle and the mother moose with her twins were an added bonus. We would highly recommend the Eagle’s Nest for anyone looking for a peaceful and worry free vacation.

Thank you for your thoughts of our place Sandy and Joel. It is nice to hear from other great fishermen, and fisher-women, how nice it is to get comfortable indoors after enjoying Alaska’s outdoors. Hope you stay in touch and come fish with us again. Ron and Katya

This house was amazing! I am a previous resident of Alaska and haven’t been back in years. Growing up in Alaska, I was big on fishing and being back in the Kenai and taking in the breath-taking view from this place nearly brought me to tears as I took in the beauty and majesty of the place.
The house was super clean and immaculate – perfect in every way! And everything you need to have a great fishing experience is all there – the location is very nice – I went when the sockeye run wasn’t all that great (wish I came a little later in July to hit the 2nd run of sockeye) but even when the runs were low and people at the Russian River were catching literally nothing, the fishing spot at this cabin had a good number of sockeye and we were able to take a few back home! I am definitely going to be coming back again – I came back home to California just a couple days ago and I’m already missing this place!
Thank you for you thoughtful message to Eagle’s Eye. We almost teared up ourselves with the kind words you wrote about your stay. It was a very nice surprise to us. We really enjoy getting everything fixed up just right for our guests. We did not even have a chance to meet yet you found your way around the property with no problems. And from the pictures of your family, a great time was had by all. You are welcome anytime to come back.

Ron and Katya have thought of everything and are the perfect hosts. They go above and beyond for their guests to make sure they have the best vacation possible. Accommodations were very clean and cozy and had everything we needed. The property has an amazing view, and the fire pit makes a perfect place to sit and relax in the evenings. We would absolutely recommend this vrbo!
Thank you Amanda for your review. We loved having your wonderful family enjoy a fishing vacation here in Alaska. I was inspired to see how well everyone did on catching all that salmon to fill the freezer. It was great to share our property with you as it is a little piece of heaven to us.

Thank you so much for your wonderful review. It was our pleasure to have your family here with us. You were great guests and we really wanted you to have a good time. Katya and I were blessed with our property and we love to share what we can with others. Hope to see you again sometime. Our second run of the Reds and Kings are just starting and the river is up another 2 feet so the fishing is getting good. And our moose are still walking through looking for you. Ron and Katya

If you want a thrill and sheer beauty in scenery, take a road trip from Anchorage Alaska to Sterling via Sterling Hwy #1 to this great place on the Kenai. It’s a mere 21/2 hour drive. However, it’s doubtful you can do it in that time, as you will want to stop many places to capture pictures the grandeur along the way. This is definitely awe inspiring area not matched many places in the world. When you get to Sterling, this is the place to stay on the Kenai. It has everything you need. For those who fish…well there is the river a few steps down the hill. Even without a boat, you can catch fish on the bank in front of the house. For those that don’t fish, you will not find a more peaceful location to watch the river roll on by. It’s better than any film about wildlife with bird song and water sound, and the natural beauty of wildlife in and out of the water. I have to mention the stars…there is nothing like millions of the stars sans city lights with a fire and occasional fish jumping to round out a day. Kenai is only a half hour away where people dipnet for salmon at the mouth of the Kenai…a background of snow capped mountains reflected in the bay behind them. Our hosts were wonderful; we felt right at home and even tasted fresh smoked salmon, their personal recipe. They really provided every comfort. We enjoyed sharing their piece of heaven by the Kenai.
